Studio One, Inc was proud to celebrate the grand opening ceremony of the Stevens Memorial Building in Ludlow, MA for our long time clients HAP Housing.
The adaptive reuse of this historical structure into 28 units of affordable senior housing continues its role as a landmark in town.
Originally the building was constructed as a recreation center for mill workers containing a gymnasium, swimming pool, bowling alley, billiards hall and various other activities. The building was then occupied for many years by the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club supporting after school activities as well as many athletic events, school dances, etc.
It's conversion into senior housing after years of abandonment brings new life to the downtown location set on Library Park. It is very possible that people who went to the building in their youth will now occupy it as their home.
The building has also played a role in the lives of some of our employees who in their youth played basketball, learned to swim in the pool, or attended dances. It was an enjoyable experience to be part of the building's transformation and continued use.
